Privacy Policy

The short version. Your wardrobe photos, birthday, and outfit history live on your device. AstroCloset never uploads them to our servers. The only data that leaves your phone is your coarse location (used to fetch the weather) and standard purchase records handled by Apple. That’s it.

1. Who we are

AstroCloset (“we,” “us,” “the app”) is an independent iOS application that pairs your personal wardrobe with daily astrology and weather to suggest outfits. We do not sell user data. We do not run advertising networks. We do not share your information with brokers.

2. What we collect, where it lives, and why

Information stored on your device only

The following information is generated, used, and stored locally on your iPhone. It never leaves your device unless you choose to back it up via your own iCloud account. We cannot read or access it.

Your date of birth — used to calculate your sun sign locally on your device.
Photos of your clothing and the metadata you assign (category, color, season, notes). These are stored in your app’s local database and the iOS file system.
Outfit recommendations, wear history, and feedback — including which outfits you logged as worn, skipped, or saved.
App preferences — your settings, units, notification timing, and similar.

Information transmitted to third-party services on your behalf

To deliver core features we send a limited set of data to the following processors. We only send what is strictly necessary, never your photos or wardrobe metadata.

Coarse location → OpenWeather. When you allow location access, the app sends your city-level coordinates to OpenWeather to fetch today’s temperature and precipitation. We do not store the request. If you prefer, you can choose a city manually instead of granting location access; in that case nothing is sent.
Subscription receipts → RevenueCat & Apple. When you purchase or restore a subscription, Apple’s StoreKit and our subscription processor RevenueCat record the transaction so we can grant access across your devices. The receipt does not include personal content from the app.
Anonymous crash & diagnostic data → Sentry. If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, an anonymous report (stack trace, device model, iOS version) is sent to Sentry so we can fix the bug. No wardrobe content or personal identifiers are included.
Anonymous product analytics → PostHog. We track aggregate, anonymous usage events (e.g. “onboarding completed,” “first outfit logged”) via PostHog to understand which features help users. This data is not linked to your identity and is never used for advertising.

3. What we do NOT collect

We do not upload your wardrobe photos to any server.
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
We do not use advertising or third-party trackers.
We do not track you across other apps or websites (no IDFA tracking).
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with brokers.

4. App Tracking Transparency

AstroCloset does not engage in “tracking” as defined by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework, and therefore does not display the ATT permission prompt. We do not link your activity in this app with data collected by other companies.

5. Children

AstroCloset is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a minor has used the app, please contact us and we’ll address it immediately.

6. Astrology disclaimer

The astrological content in AstroCloset is provided for entertainment purposes only. We do not claim that astrology predicts real events or outcomes. Outfit suggestions are recommendations and not professional advice of any kind.

7. Your rights and controls

Delete everything. Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data on your device. Once deleted from your device and your iCloud backup (if used), the data is gone — we cannot recover it because we never had it.
Disable analytics. You may opt out of anonymous product analytics in the app’s settings.
Manage your subscription. All subscriptions are handled through your Apple ID. Cancel or change anytime via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Region-specific rights. If you reside in the EU/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have additional rights to access, correct, or erase the limited data we do process. To exercise them, email hello@astrocloset.app.

8. Data retention

Local data on your device is retained as long as you keep the app installed. Crash and analytics data held by Sentry and PostHog is retained per their standard retention policies (typically 30–90 days). RevenueCat retains subscription records for as long as your subscription is active and for the period required by law thereafter.

9. International transfers

The third-party processors listed above may store data in the United States or other jurisdictions. By using AstroCloset you consent to this transfer where applicable. We choose processors that maintain industry-standard data protection practices.

10. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how data is handled, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. For significant changes that affect existing users, we will also display a notice in the app on next launch.
